WORCESTER City chairman Dr Mike Sorensen is confident of meeting the 18 stringent conditions needed to build the new Nunnery Way stadium.
These include traffic and parking issues as well as the size of the B&Q retail development and will be thrashed out before a public enquiry in January.
The strength of the city council majority in favour (23-6) delighted Dr Sorensen.
"It was a tremendous decision and the margin was fantastic though I was disappointed with the independents who it seemed would prefer to see the club collapse," he said. "There's a lot of hard work ahead and the 18 conditions are tough, but we will be trying our best to fulfil them and are looking forward to working in partnership with the council.
"It will enhance the leisure facilities of the city and keep this football club alive because without this stadium the club would die. The stadium will be of good architectural design.
"It's also important that traffic and parking doesn't impact on Spetchley residents and we will work with them to achieve that."
