MANAGER John Barton will look to tighten up his Worcester City defence to book a potentially lucrative FA Cup clash away at Hednesford Town or Hucknall Town.
City face a difficult third qualifying round tie on October 12 but there will be £10,000 at stake if they can overcome stubborn Stamford in tomorrow's replay after a 3-3 draw at St George's Lane on Saturday.
Evesham United, who also replay at Cinderford Town tomorrow, will travel to Havant & Waterlooville while if Redditch United win at Leek Town they are at home to Arnold Town.
City will need to cut out defensive mistakes at Stamford tomorrow if their cup dream is not to go up in smoke.
Worcester twice let slip a two-goal lead to allow Stamford back into the tie with two uncharacteristic errors from Danny McDonnell and a poor backheader from Paul Carty.
City also had Leon Jackson sent off for use of the elbow -- the first red card of his career -- which will rule him out of the next round clash if they get through.
"Our success this season has been built on solid defence and not giving the kind of goals away that we did on Saturday," said Barton.
"I don't have to tell the players they haven't defended well but having said that Danny McDonnell has not had a shot to save but we've still contrived to give three goals away.
"That's what hurts the most -- the manner in which we conceded the goals, I thought we had got rid of that problem. But we've thrown it away and we have to face up to it and take it on the chin."
Barton also leapt to the defence of Jackson following his red card.
"The ref saw what he saw and acted on it very quickly but if anybody knows Leon they know he is not the type of player to do that," he said.
City's boss is now looking for his players to finish the job they started. "The door is still open for us and it is up to us to make sure we go through," he added.
