WORCESTER City manager John Barton hopes he may be close to filling one of his problem positions on the left wing.
Barton is in talks with an unnamed winger who has just been released by a Football League club, and believes he has a chance of landing the player.
However, the player has also been invited for pre-season training at a First Division club so Barton may have to bide his time -- although he is still confident of getting his man.
The City boss said: "We have had a couple of chats, but he wants to stop in the League and is pursuing his options as far as he can.
"But with something like 1,000 players trying to fill 400 vacancies at the moment, they are not all going to get fixed up, and if it doesn't work out for him I think we have a very good chance."
Barton is still pursuing other targets to add to his trio of summer signings -- John Snape, David Foy and Pat Lyons.
