CITY'S hot streak, both on and off the pitch, if you include Saturday's coach fire, continued with a terrific victory against Newport County.
It was as good a game as I've seen in a long time and City's fight back was testimony to the spirit currently running through the squad.
The man grabbing all the headlines at the moment is Jon Holloway and I must admit I never expected to be referring to him as joint top scorer.
But after earning two penalties and scoring two late winners he deserves all the plaudits that come his way. He also gets the thumbs-up for his exuberant shirt-waving goal celebration, which echoed Ryan Giggs' after his wonder goal for Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final a few years back.
Talking of hardnuts, Chelsea's John Terry was an interested spectator at Citys clash with Chelmsford -- Ian Cousins must have been taking a few lessons from the centre-back because his tackle for the penalty almost took Holloway's head off.
The resulting penalty was converted by Darren Middleton but of course on Monday Mark Owen missed from the spot.
Last season the City ace bagged nine of his 17 goals from the spot but was denied his first goal back in competitive action by a post.
It will be interesting to see who takes the next one -- bearing in mind that Holloway could come into the equation as he scored something like 12 from the spot during his final season at Bath City.
Promising young defender Dan Jones has signed a contract with the club after impressing manager John Barton, while new signing Asa Charlton is looking forward to his new career at St George's Lane.
The prospect of long journeys involved in the Dr Martens Premier Division will be a mere trifle to the 24-year-old who, during a football scholarship to South Carolina, often spent nine or 10 hours travelling to games all over the States.
Leon Jackson starred in City reserves' 2-1 win at Chasetown on Monday -- it was his first action since pre season.
If Barton decides to give Paul Wyatt a run-out in the reserves this weekend, Adam Webster, a goalkeeper up until the age of 15, would stand by as an emergency if Danny McDonnell was injured.
Finally, fellow striker Stewart Hadley will start jogging later this week with a view to going full out next week. It will be his first serious exercise in five months.
