THERE'S no sense in ducking the issue -- we were awful against Tiverton.
Throughout the season we've talked about the attitude of the players, their honesty and commitment but none of those were on display on Saturday.
I've only felt let down in two games this season --- one was away at Bath City and the other was at the weekend.
We just didn't turn up and I think of the 11 players only Adam Webster emerged with any credit.
Sometimes you get nagging doubts before a game and I had a feeling we were not quite on the mark. Unfortunately that proved to be the case.
What was particularly disappointing was we had made this big play about finishing the season on a high and not tailing off as we have done in the previous two seasons. That obviously fell on deaf ears.
While the players can quite rightly take the plaudits after they've played well, equally they'll just have to take any criticism from Saturday on the chin.
The midfield was frankly awful but looking ahead to Havant & Waterlooville there is little option for change with injuries still stacked up.
With the injuries we have had I think we've done well to push this far but in the last third of the season they have begun to catch up with us and while you try and cover up your deficiencies sometimes you can't disguise your weaknesses.
I have been trying to bring players in but as always they've got to be the right ones - I don't want to play the numbers game just for the sake of it. Players that come in have to be able to make an impact and improve on what we have already.
We had a good training session on Monday night and while Tiverton hurt it's now behind us. The ball is firmly back in the players' court and they are all up for this Saturday's match.
When you've had a bad performance there's nothing better than for the next game to come around quickly so you can eradicate the bad memories.
However they don't come much tougher than a trip to Havant. Up to Christmas their season mirrored ours last year with the number of injuries they had. I had Havant boss Mick Jenkins on the telephone saying 'I know how you felt, I can't get my best players out and string anything together'.
But he's got his players back now, made a couple of adjustments and he's got a good team on his hands.
I happen to think we have done quite well, despite seeing several players sidelined, but as enjoyable as the season has been to date it's also been one of the most frustrating.
We worked hard to get the players in that we knew could do a job but then to have the rug pulled from under our feet is heart-breaking. The injuries have decimated our season but sooner or later this club is going to have an even run with injuries.
Next season could see us possibly playing in the Dr Martens or a Conference North or South depending on what the powers that be decide.
They've attempted to restructure a few times befcore but what nobody can control is the promotion and relegation issues which change the make up of the leagues very quickly.
As far as I'm concerned I just find it amazing that with less than 10 games to go that we still don't know what competition we are going to be playing in next season or where we are going to be playing.
It's quite staggering but I suppose nothing in football surprises me any more.
