WORCESTER City are to appeal to the Football Association against Jon Holloway's sending-off in their final day defeat at Dover Athletic.
City hope to clear the defender's name after viewing video footage which showed a case of mistaken identity. Carl Heeley is believed to have been the offender.
Holloway was dismissed after a fracas which followed an apparent head-butt on midfielder John Snape by Dover's Danny Chapman, who was also dismissed.
Manager John Barton said: "We have had a look on a download from their website and we have a video coming to us.
"From what we have seen it was a clear case of mistaken identity -- that is proved conclusively."
Skipper Heeley was also red-carded soon after the incident for a second bookable offence, and is set to miss his first league game in more than three years at the start of next season.
City are set to announce their retained list for next season on Friday.
