NEARLY 100 years ago, these were the young footballers of the Marsden Road Swifts, based in Smallwood.
The picture was taken in 1906 or 1907 and was supplied by Colin Hopcroft, of Greenlands Avenue.
His father, Arthur Benjamin Hopcroft, who was about 14 at the time, is in the back row, second from left.
Meanwhile, Hazel Bolton of Astwood Bank contacted the Advertiser with regard to the picture of the Crabbs Cross carnival queen and her attendants printed in our May 14 issue.
Her sister, Beryl Wadcoat, nee Tandy, was standing to the queen's right.
She thinks she also recognises the faces of Thelma Yoxal, Netta Whiton and Shirley Bradley.
