HEADLESS Cross ace Stefan Hodgetts took a major step towards the Seat Cupra Championship with two wins at his home circuit at the weekend.
With a drive in next year's European Touring Cars series up-for-grabs for the winner, Hodgetts is chasing the dream in the newly-formed Seat Cupra Championship.
And he made it three wins from the opening four rounds with double success at Silverstone, the circuit where he works.
Hodgetts had promised a good performance and delivered, never once losing sight of pole.
The Redditch driver stormed into first place in qualifying for Rounds Three and Four of the ten round series and never relinquished his lead despite a strong challenge from championship rival Robert Huff.
Huff pulled alongside Hodgetts on club corner two laps from the finish but the Redditch ace shut the door and held on after a thrilling battle.
The second race was a more straightforward affair with Huff unable to catch the runaway leader.
Despite winning three of the opening four rounds, Hodgetts still trails Huff by a point in the championship because his rival has been runner-up on all three occasions and when Huff won Round Two, Hodgetts came in seventh at Croft.
Huff's bonus point for the fastest lap in Round Three was enough to give him the slenderest of leads with rounds Five and Six at Oulton Park on Sunday, July 13.
