OAKENSHAW ace Enzo Mucci had a brighter outing in Round Five of the British GT Championship at Silverstone.
The Atlanta Motorsport team are battling against the odds in the Cup class with a developmental car which is slower than their rivals but managed to record a seventh place finish despite the Redditch driver going onto the grass.
After a promising testing session in the wet, Mucci qualified the Renault Clio V6 ninth on the grid despite handling problems and raced the first half of the three hour endurance race.
The team were praying for rain to cancel out their car's speed disadvantage but started under sunny skies with Mucci climbing two places on the second corner.
In the thick of a four car battle for fourth, Mucci was fifth and held the top four in his sights for ten demanding laps.
But after going onto the grass, the car started to overheat because of grass in the radiator and Mucci had to clamber free as water exploded out of the engine at the handover prompting a ten minute delay.
Despite the disadvantage, teammate Adam Sharpe guided the car home seventh.
Mucci heads to Castle Combe for an hour long race in the next round on Sunday, June 22.
