THE Best Western Abbey Hotel is set to host two regional heats of a national competition for senior golfers.
The Bordesley hotel will host two of the dozen Best Western Senior Masters heats.
Competitors play in the 40-50; 51-60 and 61 and over age groups.
The heats will be held on Wednesday, July 2 and Monday, July 21.
Abbey golfer Dave Murray and club pro Rob Davies are heading for the regional final of the Lombard Trophy.
Murray, a 48-year-old contractor from Redditch, and Davies won the club event with a nett 68 to progress to the regional level at Enville on Friday, May 30.
The winners after a round of better-ball medal play will qualify for the national final at San Lorenzo, Portugal, in September.
The winning pro will pocket £475 and have the chance of a £7,500 purse.
Redditch beat Fulford Heath 3.5 0.5 in Zone C of the West Midlands League and made it a double success with a 4-2 home win over Broadway.
Redditch Ladies went down 3-2 in the Droitwich League to the hosts and were again on the recieving end in a 4-1 Scratch League defeat to Rugby.
HMPO retained the annual Kitteridge Cup against Redditch after winning on the final green to secure a 3-3 draw.
