THE Alexandra Hospital's League of Friends are hoping their next event will give a massive boost to their bid to buy new mobile x-ray equipment.
The friends have set themselves the target of raising the £25,000 needed to buy the equipment and are hoping town residents will help them do this at the hospital's annual fete.
The x-ray department needs the specialist equipment for people who are so ill they cannot move, particularly in the A&E department, coronary care and intensive care units.
And it is also desperately needed in the Special Care Baby Unit, especially for premature babies, as it produces less radiation but still takes excellent pictures.
The friends' annual fete will be held in the hospital grounds on Saturday, July 5, from 2pm.
There will be the grand summer draw, refreshments, games, arena events, side stalls and a whole lot more.
But one thing missing from the event will be a children's entertainer and the group is looking for someone to volunteer their services for the day.
Anyone willing to donate their entertainment skills on the day can call the friends' office through the hospital switchboard on 503030.
