BROMSGROVE Cricket Club Seconds endured a disappointing holiday weekend with a draw and losing draw to show for their efforts from two home fixtures.
The St Godwald's Park side drew with Sutton Coldield on Monday but suffered a losing draw against Dorridge last Saturday.
Sutton Coldfield won the toss on Monday and batted first. Fine bowling from Bromsgrove deserved better support but Sutton took advantage of poor fielding - including seven dropped catches - to post a total of 161-9.
Batting was never going to be easy with the wicket deteriorating and fine bowling from opener Greetham, who bowled 25 overs for just 36 runs, taking five wickets.
Mike Bennison looked capable of winning it for the hosts before he went for 36.
Richard Hope provided good support and Lee Mortlock gave Bromsgrove brief hope of victory before he fell to Greetham, leaving Bromsgrove to settle for the draw.
Bromsgrove lost the toss against Doridge and batted first on a wet wicket.
Richard Hope was caught via his helmet in the first over but replacement Julian Court batted magnificently and held the innings together with 56.
He received great support from Greg Gibbin (26) and an explosive 35 from Tom Hope allowed the hosts to reach 153-8 in 50 overs.
After a great spell of bowling from opener Ade Lawton (4-19), Bromsgrove put themselves in a match winning position with the visitors at 24-4.
But, once again, lack of concentration and dropped catches allowed Dorridge back into the game.
When Bromsgrove did begin playing again, it was too late and Dorridge finished on 100-9, resulting in a winning draw.
