LES Bailey from Worcester Triathlon Club won a silver medal at the British Duathlon Championships held at Swindon.
He was competing in the 65-69 category and finished in a time of 2hrs23min-16seconds behind current world Duathlon champion Cyril Leigh.
The race is held over a course of 10km run (on and off road), 38 km bike (two laps) and finally' a five km run. Almost 400 competitors competed in the age category races.
The overall winner was Martin Yelling of Milton Keynes Tri Club (an elite athlete) in 1.48.05. He also won the race last year.
The ladies winner from the same club was Vicky Pincombe, also an elite and a winner last year in 2.02.03.
Another Worcester success was Ruth Heatley, who despite a calf injury made a surprise visit to the Championship but still managed to finish fourth in her age category 35-39 years in 2.30.00.
Heatley and Bailey have been chosen for the Great Britain Duathlon aged group team for the World and European Championships later this year.
