THE major event of the week at The Vale Golf and Country Club was the Seniors Open when 148 players represented 28 clubs.
The eventual winner was D Stone, a veteran from Tewkesbury Park, who carded a magnificent score of 41 points.
The nearest challenger was home member Andrew Boyd (36) closely followed by three more Vale players - Mike Wood, Harry Towers and Carlo Martinelli - who all amassed 35 points.
Len Henson, the oldest member of the club at nearly 82, completed a great fortnight by leading in the veterans with a score of 33 from club colleague Frank Clarke.
The last two matches for the Seniors also went well with a 4-2 home win over Puckrup and an even better result in the return with Evesham where revenge for the away fixture resulted in a resounding 5- victory.
