Maureen Smith, the president, welcomed members to the meeting. Good wishes were sent to two members who were ill, Barbara Moore and Judy Bridgewater. It was distressing to hear that a stalwart member, Doris Passy was also unwell. Good wishes were sent to her too. Maureen gave a report on the highly successful group meeting which took place in Dodford Village Hall. She also gave a report on the groups presidents and secretaries meeting. It was noted that a social evening and supper would take place on Monday, June 23. Birthday greetings to the May birthday girls were given.
Business concluded, the speaker, Margaret Brown, was introduced. Her subject - "Talking Newspapers". Margaret is the editor of 'Bromsgrove Talking Newspapers'. She gave a most interesting and informative talk. We were told how the group responsible for producing the tapes for the newspaper worked. The recordings are made every two weeks and are distributed by post. Several members who made short recordings on the spot had them played back, much to the delight of the meeting. Mary Rea gave Margaret a vote of thanks.
