A most interesting and sometimes amusing talk was given by member Ricky Day. She suffers from the eye disease age related macular degeneration and has already appeared on television and in the press.
Ricky is anxious that as many people as possible are familiar with the early symptoms of the disease. Her talk was much appreciated by members and the vote of thanks was given by Bridget Smalley.
The resolutions meeting had commenced with business matters which included details of our visit to London by coach on Wednesday, August 13. Visits have been arranged to the Mews and to the Queen's Art Gallery.
Barbara Maskell then introduced Ann Ripper, Chris Jordan and Elizabeth Mountford who, in turn presented members with information on children's diets, exercise and health, care of the elderly and vocational training of young people. Members discussed this year's topics and some were able to speak from personal experiences. The President recorded the notes and all three motions were passed.
The meeting ended with social time and refreshments. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 4, at 7.30pm in the village hall. The guest speaker will be Mrs Julia Scott introducing 'Herbs from a Walled Garden'.
