BROMSGROVE cyclists Ian Smith and Joe Rowe claimed high finishes in the latest round of competition.
Smith, riding for Wyre Forest Cycle Racing club, finished an excellent third in the Wrekinsport CC 10-mile time trial at Sambrook last Saturday.
In wet conditions, Smith rode strongly to finish in a time of 22 minutes nine seconds, only 19 seconds behind the first two riders, Mark Mullender and Chris Taylor, tied in first place.
Smith was also in action in the Central District LCA 25-mile trial at Etwall, Derbyshire, finishing a creditable seventh against strong opposition. He recorded a time of 56mins exactly.
Last Sunday, Smith joined Steve Burns in the CTT National 10mile Championships at Princethorpe, Warwickshire. Burns finished in 22mins 7secs while Ian was 22 seconds further drift.
Elsewhere, Bromsgrove's Rowe came third in the Halesowen Track League at the Manor Abbey Stadium last Friday.
Riding in the 10-lap B category race, Rowe finished behind Jack Hibberd and T Hibberd from Halesowen.
Rowe was also runner-up in 14-mile club time trial at Astley with a time of 37mins 37secs, enough to give him the lead in the veteran's category.
