AN appeal has been launched to find a teacher to help a Vietnamese teenager learn basic English when he comes to Redditch this summer.
Trung, from Hoi-An, a coastal city south of Danang on the South China Sea, was illiterate and could not afford to go to school when he met Mike Everest and his wife, Connie, of Headless Cross, while they were on holiday three years ago.
The kind-hearted couple paid for the 13 year old to attend school and after an 18-month battle with the authorities, Trung was granted a passport and visa to visit Britain for nine weeks last year, during which he enjoyed two days at Walkwood Middle School.
Mr Everest said he was now trying to focus Trung on what he could do with his life in the future.
Anyone who can help can call Mr Everest on 542998 or email mikejeverest@hotmail.com
