REIGNING champions Studley A regained their place at the top of the Premier Division of the Prudden Road Surfacing League.
They lead the South Warw-ickshire table after drawing their game in hand against Stratford C following a second share of the spoils in last week's match at home to an improving Littletons A.
Studley opened with a great winning 7-6, 4-6, 6-0 rubber from captain Clive Dalton and Dave Innes over a strong Stratford pairing of Callum Bailey and Rob Slatter.
They then went on to batter Greg Delaney and Steve Turner 6-0, 6-0. Unfortu-nately, for the home side, their second pair went down despite putting up great resistance 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, to Stratford's Delaney and Turner and then 3-6, 0-6, to Bailey and Slatter.
In their next match against Littletons A, Dalton and Innes had to work harder still before overcoming Dave Rudge and Jim Fielder 6-1, 2-6, 7-5.
Meanwhile, Studley's other pair White and Francis went down to Hubbard and Wall of the Littletons 1-6, 5-7.
With honours even at the change, the latter twosome gave Littletons the advantage with a 6-3, 6-4 defeat of Da-ton and Innes.
However, White and Francis saved Studley's blushes with an excellent 7-5, 6-3 victory over Rudge and Fielder to their side a valuable 2-2 draw that puts them one point clear at the summit.
With second-placed Strat-ford B having a free week, Inkberrow A had a great opportunity to extend their lead but came up against a strong Stratford C team determined to help their clubmates.
Stratford drew first blood as Simon Roach and Dennis Mecklenburg disposed of Nick Aylett and Graeme Rankin 6-4, 6-1.
Stratford's other pair, Cal-lum Bailey and Rob Slatter, meanwhile, only overcame Inkberrow's captain Adam Hill and Tim Bradshaw 7-5, 7-6 after a struggle.
After the change, Bailey and Slatter ensured a Stratford victory with a third rubber beating Aylett and Rankin 6-4, 7-6.
Inkberrow salvaged a valuable point and some pride as Hill and Bradshaw beat Roach and Mecklenburg 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
The final match was a clash between the bottom two teams that saw Chipping Campden A record their first win of the season while Tan-worth recorded their first point.
Scores: Ken Dawson & Jamie Davis (Campden) bt Phil Wells & Nick Danks 6-2, 6-3; bt Richard Littleshill & Ian Phillips 6-4, 6-4. Dave Townrow & Mark Kirkbride (Campden) lost to Littleshill & Phillips 3-6, 7-6, 4-6, bt Wells & Danks 7-6, 0-6, 6-3.
