BEN Hinshelwood has hit back at speculation that he wants to quit Sixways.
Reports in Scotland suggested that Worcester Rugby Club's star centre, who played a full part in three Murrayfield Autumn internationals, could leave the National One title chasers if they miss out on promotion to the Premiership.
However, the 25-year-old has denied he is unhappy at Sixways and has today underlined his commitment to the club.
"I am extremely happy at Worcester and am determined to get into the Premiership with them," he said.
"All I said in Scotland was that if we do not get promoted then playing in the country would be an option. But I'm not thinking like that at present. We have a very good chance of winning promotion this season and if we do that then there is no issue.
"Obviously, me playing for Worcester does not affect my international chances because I've been involved while I'm at the club so there is no problem."
Meanwhile, Worcester's director of rugby John Brain has stated, for the first time, that he would be keen on extending fly-half Tim Walsh's Sixways stay. The 23-year-old is contracted only until the end of January initially to cover for James Brown's back surgery.
However, Brain would like the Australian to stay on until the end of the season.
"I think a lot depends on what Southern Hemisphere offers he gets," he said. "However, I think, given his performances so far, it would be in our best interests to extend the stay.
"We have been monitoring James Brown's recuperation and we are expecting him back around January. Nothing has changed there but we have obviously been impressed with Tim."
Brain is also looking to bring in some cover at hooker following Chris Pearson's wrist surgery which will keep him out of action for six weeks.
Former Swansea youngster Craig Hawkins was due to arrive today to take part in a couple of training sessions before the move fell through. Hawkins was released from the St Helen's club in the summer and has been playing for Narberth this season.
"We are actively looking for cover," added Brain. "We invited Craig to train with us but unfortunately it has fallen through."
