KINGSLEY Jones has won his battle to face London Welsh on Saturday.
Worcester Rugby Club's skipper will take his place in the side to visit Old Deer Park in the National One showdown after recovering from injury. The former Wales captain had an X-ray on his thumb this week but has been given the green light to play.
Head coach John Brain has also been boosted with the news that centre Chris Yates has recovered from a neck problem, suffered in Saturday's 20-18 win over Rotherham, and is fit for action. Worcester, though, will be without fly half Craig Chalmers who pulled up with a hamstring strain during the bruising weekend encounter. Tony Yapp takes his number 10 spot.
Winger Alistair Murdoch, who began full training this week after a lengthy absence because of a rib injury, is not included in the squad but may be considered for the Coventry clash on October 6. Scott Barrow, who limped out of training this week with a reoccurrence of his foot problem, is again ruled out while scrum half Elton Moncrieff is still two weeks away from fitness with a calf injury.
Brain, though, was delighted to have captain Jones fit again for his table topping side who tackle their second away test of the season.
"He is obviously an important player for us," he said. "He had an X-Ray this week and nothing is broken so we are pleased about that. We have Nathan Carter on the bench as cover if he does get a bad knock though.
"The injury is getting better by the day so we are hopeful it won't cause him a problem."
