WORCESTER Rugby Club are set to play in the prestigious Middlesex Sevens tournament next month.
The club have received an invitation to enter a team in the Twickenham event on Saturday, August 18, following the late withdrawal of another side.
Worcester will get the chance to take on the country's top clubs and numerous international and invitation teams in the famous sevens competition.
"We have agreed to take a side and it is a big status step for the club to be recognised in this way," said Chief Executive Geoff Cooke. "It is fabulous recognition for Worcester and will give players the opportunity of playing at Twickenham against some of the world's greatest players.
Worcester, meanwhile, will play Premiership side Sale Sharks in a pre-season friendly match on Saturday, August 25. The Sixways club will travel to Manchester for their final preparation before they start the league calendar on September 1.
Worcester are are still hoping to arrange another friendly match on August 18.
