FORMER Worcester Rugby Club coach Adrian Skeggs has wished his ex-employers all the best before flying back to Australia this week.

Last season's director of coaching at Sixways was in philosophical mood as he looked back on his 12 months in charge but was keen to wish the club and supporters well for the future.

"I was obviously very disappointed to leave after a season," he said.

"However, I'm not bitter and have a number of options already to get back into coaching. It was a great experience for me at Worcester and I think we were successful in what we achieved. There are a lot of good people at the club and I wish them all the best for the coming season."

Skeggs, speaking at his leaving party at Ombersley Cricket Club - a team he has been playing for this season - also paid tribute to the Sixways supporters after he received a number of goodwill messages following his departure from the Gold'n'Blues.

He added: "I didn't really expect that sort of response but it was very nice to know that many people thought you had done a good job. The supporters had been excellent throughout the season and they deserve to see some quality rugby next season.

"That was a lingering disappointment for me. The players had so much more potential than they showed in certain matches and if they could have been more consistent, then the supporters would have really seen some excellent rugby."

Skeggs, who is likely to return to Britain in the near future to take up a new coaching role, was keeping tight-lipped on his next club but admitted Sixways supporters could well see him again soon.

"I think people will be surprised but it is not completely out of the question that I will be seen again at Worcester!"
