The Medical Officer of Health, in his monthly report to Campden Rural District Council, had no notifications of infectious diseases to report. The smallpox cases at Campden were progressing favourably, and would, he hoped, soon be able to be discharged. There had been an outbreak of measles at Moreton-in-Marsh, and the schools had been closed. The MOH said he had received two further letters from Dr Style as to the alleged nuisance of from the black smoke issuing from the Creamery chimney stack at Moreton.

Boy Scouts, Girl Guides and the senior school children attended an Empire Day fete held at Quar Hood, Stow-on-the-Wold. Led by Brittania, the procession, numbering about 250, saluted the flag and the National Anthem and Rule Brittania was sung. Sir Beauvoir de Lisle, K/C.B., then gave a stirring address, after which Miss Eva Hudson Brown sang Land of Hope and Glory. Mrs Flowerdew-Lowson provided a substantial tea and a progr-amme of sports was carried out with zest.

The first open day to be held at Stow-on-the-Wold Mixed School since the end of the war took place last week and offered an excellent opportunity for parents and friends to inspect the work done by pupils. Visitors during the afternoon were able to see the children at their lessons and were given a demonstration of physical education in the playground. The school remained open in the evening for the benefit of parents who were at work during the day. The response to the event was very encouraging and there was a continuous flow of visitors.

A public meeting is to be called at Stow-on-the-Wold to discuss the new parking lay-out for The Square, which makes no allowances for coaches. A good deal of casual trade in Stow is provided by tourist buses using The Square as a pulling-up point and it is the traders who are most annoyed by the county council's re-marking of The Square, which has been resurfaced. A petition signed by about 50 tradespeople is to be presented to Stow Parish Council calling for a parking area for coaches to be reinstated.
