NEIGHBOURS are being encouraged to nominate nearby gardens for entry into this year's Worcester in Bloom competition.
Ian Yates, the city's parks and cemeteries manager, said he was constantly amazed by the standard of many of the gardens in the city.
But he said many Worcester gardeners were reluctant to put themselves forward for the annual tournament.
"Wherever I go around the city, I see lots of gardens that would score handsomely in the competition," said Mr Yates.
"Yet Worcester people seem reticent about blowing their own trumpet.
"That's why we have hit on the idea of getting neighbours to nominate gardens in their vicinity."
Judging takes place over a three-day period in the summer, and entry forms are available from the council parks department on 01905 722455.
The closing date for entries is Saturday, July 26.
