Guests at the May meeting of Powick Guild were Jill and David Purdham, who have recently come to live in Colletts Green. In 1995 they worked as pastors to a church in a small town near Alicante, Spain. This presented them with many problems, mainly with language, customs and lifestyles. However, they found themselves able to help other compatriots in difficulties with hospitals, dentists, doctors and, sadly, arranging funerals and cremations. Their talk finished with a Spanish hymn using the keyboard, which had been of so much use in Spain. Members joined in with other old favourites before tea was served by Thea Wild and Freda Coppin. The Guild trip to Ironbridge is on Tuesday, June 10 and leaves Colletts Green at 9.20am picking up other passengers at various points including Callow End and St Johns.
Calling all young children interested in sport! There will be cricket coaching held weekly on the Hospital Lane playing field, next to Link Nurseries. Commencing on Thursday, June 5, coaching will be for the 5-11 years age group, from 4.45-6pm. For more details ring Rob Richards on (01905) 831888.
