USERS of Malvern Library are being invited to a public meeting about the work being carried out there.
Worcestershire County Council and Malvern Hills District Council are working together to improve library facilities and introduce a council 'one-stop-shop'.
The back of the building is being redesigned to give greater space for improvements to book lending services, local history, Learn-direct centre, internet terminals and exhibition space.
A £650,000 Government grant will help cover the cost.
District council leader Tom Wells, said: "Our priority is to provide the best service we can to the people of Malvern.
"The customer service centre will take advantage of new technology to answer up to 80 per cent of queries at the first point of contact, irrespective of which council provides the service."
County councillor Adrian Hardman said: "One of our greatest challenges is to make sure that library services do not suffer as a result of opening the customer service centre, and I'm very pleased to see that the designers have also made this a priority.
"I hope the people who attend the meeting will leave confident in what we're doing and excited about the benefits."
The meeting is on Monday, June 16, at 7pm in Priory Lodge Hall, Avenue Road.
