MALVERN Hills district councillors are to apply to extend the lifespan of a building their own planners condemned as unsightly.

They also want to spend £6,500 on maintaining the temporary annexe at the back of Portland House.

A planning application to permanently retain the annexe was turned down a year ago.

However, a recent meeting of the executive decided to seek consent to retain the annexe for a further year for storage and temporary office space.

Coun Clive Smith (Link) said: "I would like to put a bulldozer through it tomorrow. If we haven't got this sorted out within 12 months we will all have failed."
