HEREFORD'S David Park marched on to four under par after six holes of his second round in the Celtic Manor Resort Wales Open near Newport today.
Yesterday the Burghill Valley club member returned a two-under-par 70 in a topsy-turvy round that included five birdies, but also three bogeys.
The signs were good that Park could close on the leaders in today's second round after birdies at the fourth and fifth holes.
It was tough going for Colin Montgomerie who was two over par and 10 shots off the lead held by fellow Scot David Drysdale.
Drysdale had picked up four birdies in his first six holes today to move to eight under par, one ahead of overnight leaders Nick O'Hern and Ian Poulter.
