Musicians Corinne Frost and Roger Nichols are to entertain crowds with a summer recital evening in Much Marcle.

Cellist Frost and pianist Nichols will give a recital of classical duos including works by Bach, Beethoven, Debussy and Prokofiev at the historic Hellens manor house.

Ms Frost seriously began her career as a musician when she was awarded a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music at the age of 17.

After winning many prizes at the academy, she graduated and went on to study with the French cellist Pierre Fournier thanks to scholarships from the Royal Society of Arts and the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.

Since then her career has progressed and includes recitals at the Purcell Room and Wigmore Hall in London.

Now she is principal cellist of the Malvern based English String/ Symphony Orchestra and plays regularly with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Mr Nichols studied music at Oxford University, where one of his tutors was English composer Edmund Rubbra. A fellow of the Royal College of Organists since 1962, Mr Nichols has given concerts all over the country.

He is a particular enthusiast of French music and among his many publications are works on Ravel, Debussy and Messaie. His most recent book, The Harlequin Years, deals with music in post-war Paris.

Mr Nichols is also an accomplished radio presenter, including stints as a presenter of Radio 3's Mainly for Pleasure and a contributor to Music Matters and Radio 4's Kaleidoscope.

A light buffet supper will be served after the concert though advanced reservation is required.

The show begins at 7.30pm on Saturday, June 7. Tickets are £16 to include aperitif, concert and supper.
