IN reply to Adrian Gregson (You Say, May 19) I will concede on a technicality that the Tories, with 18 seats, have overall control on Worcester City Council.
Local New Labour are now down to just 10 seats having again failed at the polls under Adrian's leadership, thus seeing the Tories - with their 18 councillors - most unlikely to lose a vote at full council.
Roger Berry said the Mayor's election should be decided on the person and not party politics. Independent councillors voted individually for the person, not politics.
With the formation of the Cabinet system then strongly-favoured by Adrian Gregson and his government, the Independents sat squarely in the middle, while New Labour and the Tories politically poked each other in the eyes, demonstrating that, sadly, a more democratic cross-party arrangement would not work.
Now, to the dictionary. Leadership?
BRIAN HUNT, Worcester.
