MALVERN College have won through to the final of the Chesterton Cup after a convincing defeat of RGS Worcester.
Home side RGS batted first on a difficult pitch with a few wet patches. Malvern took two early wickets, both with excellent slip catches and the superb fielding performance continued. Murtagh dived to catch at mid off, and then a diving stop by King at extra cover and a brilliant flick back to the bowler's end ran out the RGS number three. Four wickets from Raymond, one off a superb catch to Daffern at short fine leg, contributed to removing RGS for 107.
Malvern College's early batting nerves were settled when Arun (27) launched one onto the road. Murtagh played well for 23 and Gifford played a captain's innings with 36no. The total of 108 was reached with seven wickets to spare.
Malvern now play Cheltenham in the final at New Road on Sunday, June 8.
