BATTING first in damp conditions, the Green got off to a steady start scoring 47 from the first 19 overs, withou losing a wicket.

BARNARDS GREEN II v BIRLINGHAM II

Unfortunately a heavy shower then delayed play for over an hour. With a reduced number of overs the Green managed an excellent total of 194 from the remaining 20 overs. A first class innings of 113 from young Mat Brookes, and ably supported by Brian Hancock, were the major contributors to the total.

Birlingham started at a whirlwind pace, with an eye on the weather, trying to get their strike rate up in case of further rain.

With the introduction of Martin Heaton the run rate slowed and he soon bowled the hard hitting Seward for a quick fire 27. Fletcher gained more control with his medium pace bowling and he removed the dangerous Bendall before bowling Dorman shortly after for two.

Martin Heaton bowled two more of the Birlingham batsmen in quick succession and the away team were in trouble at 71-5.

At this stage the heavens opened again and play was abandoned for the fourth week in a row.
