BARNARDS Green U13s have recently had to make the long haul to Badsey on two occasions, once in the cup and most recently in a league encounter.
Both games were played in cold and wet conditions and both finishing in near dark conditions.
The cup match saw the Green come out convincing winners by 18 runs. Batting first, Liam Paddock and Phil Harris showed their county credentials by each reaching 30 before having to retire as the Green reached 93-3.
In reply, Badsey reached 75 with only S Bosworth (30) showing the correct application against some tight bowling.
Ricky Buckland (3-12) and Harry Pleass (1-8) picked up wickets whilst Liam Paddock (3-15) and Phil Harris, 0-7 off his four overs, ensured Badsey were never really in the chase.
The second encounter saw Badsey batting first and this time they applied themselves a lot better.
Having survived the opening four overs from Harris and Paddock for very few runs, they then took advantage of some loose deliveries to score freely before Harris and Paddock returned to tighten the screw.
Paddock finished with 3-10, Harris 1 for 12 and Ricky Buckland 2-24. Chasing 96, openers Paddock and Richard Tuck played some excellent shots from some very accurate bowling and took the score to 67 before both had to retire having reached 30.
Phil Harris (18no) tried in vain to get close to the Badsey score, but the Green were left 14 runs short at the close having conceded 15 extras when bowling.
