SUN-worshippers are gearing up for a scorcher of a weekend.
Youngsters made the most of the half-term weather yesterday as temperatures reached a balmy 27C.
Evening News weatherman Paul Damari said that, although temperatures peaked yesterday, the weather would remain warm and sunny over the weekend.
"It won't be quite so hot over the weekend - it'll be about 23 or 24C," he said. "It will still be very warm, but there could be the odd thunderstorm."
Music revellers will be able to take advantage of the weather at Wyvern FM's XS2003 concert today, and its Classical Picnic & Proms concert tomorrow.
Both events are taking place at Worcester's New Road county cricket ground - with 15,000 fans expected today alone.
People travelling to the concerts or elsewhere are being warned by motoring organisation RAC that there could be a significant increase in breakdowns as an estimated 15 million motorists take to the roads to make the most of the good weather.
RAC traffic experts predict jams on main routes to popular coastal destinations today.
Heavy traffic is also expected tomorrow, when many families will head back from half-term holidays.
