FANS of ITV's I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here have the chance to put their own survival skills to the test on a jungle jaunt for charity.

Acorns Children's Hospice is hunting for a team of intrepid adventurers to brave the humid heat of the Amazon rainforest to raise money for children with life limiting illnesses.

The nine-day challenge, which takes place next February, is to travel into the Ecuadorian rainforest at the foot of the Andes.

Local guides and skilled boatmen will take the party to explore the Rio Napo region on foot and by canoe before travelling by jungle craft on little known lakes and rivers.

There is also the chance to take part in a nocturnal wildlife hunt for the Amazon's 1,500 types of flowering plants, 750 different trees, 125 kinds of mammals, 400 varieties of birds and 160 reptiles and amphibians.

But organiser Emily Henton said no one would be asked to bite into any bugs, confront crocodiles or get covered in creepy crawlies.

"This is going to be a really exciting trip and a complete contrast in accommodation from the comfort of a lodge to a night in a single camp in the jungle," she said.

To secure a place, adventurers need to pay a non-refundable deposit of £250, followed by £2,500 in the run-up to the trek.
