WITH reference to your two-page article regarding Tesco and Sainbury's, I would like point out that shoppers would arrive in their cars, complete their shopping in the supermarket, then drive off home.
Both supermarkets would take over a large part of St John's and are already causing much distress to nearly residents.
So far as Tesco is concerned there is no need for a petrol filling station. There is already one a short distance away at Lower Wick.
The link road designed to minimise traffic would only cause further chaos in another part of St John's - so where's the gain?
However, if the old cinema was converted into a general store, I am sure this would be acceptable to most people.
