IN the article about badgers to be shot to control TB (Evening News, Monday, May 19) the chairman of the Worcestershire Badger Society, Mike Weaver, claims it is a waste of taxpayers' money for Defra to carry out badger culling in certain parts of the country.
He states it is not being carried out in a scientific way.
Yet the following day, Claire Whyte, a member of Coalation of Badger Action Groups, states: "Wherever Defra try to and capture badgers, we will have someone there to release them."
Who's wasting the money and what chance have we of finding out the truth? Perhaps they are frightened what the truth may be.
My farm has been shut down since November, when my first case of TB came to light. My last test produced six new cases.
These cows are now waiting to be slaughtered. One has just calved and the others may calve at any time.
Being shut down, the farm is unable to generate any income and costing me thousands of pounds in extra food, bedding and labour.
I will be unable to hire any bulls this year for next year's calves.
