SUN-lovers basked in a weekend of glorious weather in Worcester.
The heatwave was particularly welcomed by pop fans, who enjoyed temperatures of 29C at the XS 2003 on Saturday at the New Road cricket ground.
It was another fine day yesterday, reaching 23C and staying warm for the evening's Classical Picnic & Proms.
The thunderstorms that had been predicted failed to materialise, with just the odd shower affecting the region.
Evening News weatherman Paul Damari said the hot spell at the end of the month had come up from Spain, meaning we were enjoying weather equal to that in the Mediterranean.
"It's not unusual to get weather as hot as this at the end of May, but Saturday was the hottest day of the year so far," he said.
"The average for May is 16C, so it was well above that."
Sun worshippers will be in for a treat in July - temperatures are set to soar above 30C during one of the best summers for some time.
