A SNACK and ingredients retailer is chipping in to help save endangered orangutans.

Julian Graves, the leading UK specialist snack and ingredients retailer, is helping to save the apes from extinction by donating a share of profits from the sale of its banana-based products to The Orangutan Foundation.

Julian Graves, which has an outlet in CrownGate Shopping Centre, Worcester, is donating 10p and 5p for every 500g and 200g bag of Honey Dipped Banana Chips sold, and 5p from sales of 200g bags of Candy Banana Shapes.

The Orangutan Foundation supports conservation projects in Borneo and Sumatra, where orangutan numbers have declined by around 50 per cent since 1993.

Around 80 per cent of their habitat has also been destroyed in the past 20 years due to illegal logging and forest areas being cleared for oil plantations.
