INVESTIGATIONS were under way today into the tragic death of a toddler from Kidderminster.
Andrew Condon, 22 months old, died at the Diana Princess of Wales Children's Hospital, Birmingham, yesterday morning after it is thought he fell into a garden pond at home.
Doctors from the hospital told police he died from drowning and an inquest into his death was due to be opened in Stourport at 2pm today.
Det Insp Paul Knight, of West Mercia police, said: "Our sympathies are with the family at this tragic time. We shall be carrying out a full investigation on behalf of the coroner.
"As the warm weather continues and the summer holidays approach, it is important parents and youngsters are aware of the dangers of open water and that a child can drown in a very small amount of water."
