FORMER Worcestershire player Duncan Catterall made Herefordshire suffer on the second day of their Minor Counties Championship Western Division clash with Shropshire at Luctonians CC, Kingsland.
Catterall hit 162, including four sixes and 19 fours, as Shropshire piled up a massive 536 all out in their first innings.
It was Shropshire's highest ever championship total and the biggest by any team in the Minor Counties Championship since 1947.
Guy Home (98) and former Herefordshire player Steve Adshead (96) were also among the runs as skipper Chris Boroughs ended with 5-121, his best figures for Herefordshire.
Faced with a deficit of 216 runs, reigning joint champions Herefordshire slipped to 81-2 in their second innings by the close, still 135 short of avoiding an innings defeat.
Worcestershire begin their latest Second XI Championship match against Northamptonshire at Kidderminster's Chester Road ground tomorrow.
