BY the death of Mr C Disney Milward JP, which occurred suddenly in the early hours of last Friday morning, Redditch and district has lost a personality who was an acknowledged leader of the town's traditional industry and in many areas of public service.
Mr Milward - he preferred to be known by that unassuming style instead of by the naval rank of Commander to which he was entitled - lived at Hampton Manor, Evesham.
He was married with two daughters and died in Cheltenham General Hospital at the age of 62.
He was a member of a family which has been associated with needle and fishing tackle manufacture in Redditch for generations and was the eldest son of the late Lt Col CF Milward JP.
Mr Milward was a founder member of the Rotary Club of Redditch and became president in 1948, serving one year.
