I WRITE in response to the recent uproar concerning the road markings at some of our roundabouts.
While I agree with what appears to be the mainstream of townsfolk, sadly I believe we only have ourselves to blame.
I am specifically talking about the McDonalds roundabout at the bottom of the Alcester Highway and Rough Hill Drive.
As you approach from the town centre intending to go towards Astwood Bank and Crabbs Cross, you run the gauntlet of this roundabout.
These destinations are right turns, hence you choose the right lane until passing the exit prior to yours and then indicate left - simple. Unfortunately, a mindless few take the left lane and drive all the way round causing no end of problems and near scrapes for other drivers.
Do they not realise it is a right turn, not a straight on?
Driving instructors, ambulance drivers and the vast majority surely can not be wrong.
So when the county council pounces on this roundabout and causes undoubtedly longer delays with new markings, I say to all those who have drawn attention it by hogging the left lane, thank you!
I would even bet these few are those complaining about the new markings.
