REDDITCH racewalker Sharon Tonks won the Coventry Godiva 'Alan Flear Memorial' track meeting on Saturday.
Sharon abandoned her usual fast start for the 3km event at Warwick University and watched a junior athlete open up a considerable lead from the gun.
But one-and-a-half laps later Sharon led the group to pull the youngster back, pass and drop her.
At this point ex GB international Verity Snook decided to try her luck, going into the lead.
Within one-and-a-half laps Tonks had chased, caught and passed Verity, going on to win comfortably in a modest 15m 02s.
