A LANDSCAPE architect has been drafted in to draw up a number of ideas for major enhancement work in the town centre after original plans fell through.
Last year Worcestershire County Council announced more than £1 million was set to be spent on major works, including improving the area around St Stephen's Church and the pedestrianisation of Church Green West.
But it has since been revealed the only money available under the Local Transport Plan is £600,000 and this can can only be spent on the pedestrianisation scheme.
However, Redditch Council officers are determined to carry on with work to improve the area.
Director of cultural and development services Paul Patten said funding for all the enhancement work was not a problem as the council had hundreds of thousands of pounds still available from 106 planning agreements with Thornfield.
