The HSE are assessing the risks of falling from heights and they will be making sure all companies are given adequate safety training.
In 2001 there were two major incidents involving falls from height at construction sites in Redditch and three incidents where workers had to take at least three days off work because of their injuries.
In 2002 there were two major incidents and one injury which resulted in a worker's absence of three day or more.
Most falls from height had similar causes including falls through fragile roofs, falling from inadequately guarded scaffolding and from ladders when work was carried out in an unsuitable manner.
