DROITWICH Spa Football Club's hopes of promotion have been dented after being given just one week to build their new stand.
Midland Football Combination officials visited Spa's King George's Playing Fields ground last Saturday and expect the structure for 100 people to be completed when they return this weekend.
Currently the club, who applied for promotion to division one at the end of the season, only have a few holes in place for the hard standing and face a race against time to finish.
Nick West, son of chairman Dave West, said: "We are gutted. We have got the hard standing bit dug but they (officials) want to come over again on Sunday and it's got to be done by then."
The demand as good as ends Kevin Blaber's side's dream of playing at their highest level ever.
All the work is being done by club volunteers and, although some are there during this week, most of the work will have to be done this Saturday.
West added: "We are not going to get everything done in the week and we are going to see if we can get it done for the start of next season.
"We are going to do our best but we are now thinking what are our chances?"
