BADMINTON players from Droitwich Spa and Bromsgrove are being sought by a county team looking to build on one of its most successful seasons ever.

West Mercia Badminton Club, which plays at Hindlip Hall, near Droitwich Spa, scooped five trophies for performances in the Worcestershire League at the league's annual general meeting last month.

They now want more players to maintain that form when matches start again in September.

Club vice-chairman Carl Baldacchino, who lives in the Spa, said: "Five of our 11 teams won their leagues this year, with four of them gaining promotion to higher leagues, one of our best seasons ever.

"The club is looking to increase its membership and we hope to enter even more teams into league competitions for the 2003/4 season.

"We are particularly keen to hear from league standard women players to strengthen our ladies, mixed and veterans teams."

The club plays on Wednesday and Friday nights all year and draws players from across the county.
