DROITWICH Spa boxers finished their busy season in the same style as they started - with a stream of good wins.
Alex Strutt, a 21-year-old middleweight, enjoyed a dream debut at Ilkeston by knocking out Ashbourne's Barry Harwood in the second round.
Strutt followed with another impressive display at Stoke-on-Trent when he forced the retirement of Matt Williscroft (Rugeley Police) in the third round.
Adam Mytton, aged 15, ended his memorable first full season with two good wins. At Merthyr Tydfil he reversed a previous loss to Welsh champion Ryan Evans (Merthyr) with a comprehensive points victory.
He then travelled to Northolt (London) where he repeated an earlier points win over Steve Miah (Northolt). Mytton ends the season with 10 wins from 13 contests, including reaching the Schools Championships National Finals.
Other good wins saw 17-year-old Anthony Bonehill recover from a standing count at Northolt to clinch a points victory over Jason McCulley (Danson Youth), and Michael Pardoe, aged 16, edge out Terry Skipper at Stevenage.
Marc Bonehill, aged 16, gave a skilful display at Ilkeston but lost the verdict to Derby's Greg Badwal.
Most of the club's established boxers now take a well-earned summer break, but the club remains open for newcomers, coaches and fitness training.
Club coach Chris Andrews said: "It's a good time to start. We can concentrate on beginners and give them more attention than is possible during the season."
